Communication........

Have you ever played the game "Telephone"? You know the one....the first person says something and whispers it in the ear of the next person and the message gets passed along the line until it gets to the last person who needs to say it out loud. Inevitably, the last person always hears something different than what was originally said.

Then there were those tin-cans-with-strings-tied-between phones. They "kind of" worked...but then you were always near each other anyway.

Fast forward many years and now we have cell phones. Who hasn't said "Can you hear me now??" with a chuckle as it reminds us of the cell phone commercials. Even then, the latest technology doesn't always make communication easy. I sometimes have a hard time understanding my daughter when she calls me on her cell phone....and just this morning I was talking to someone on her cell phone and our conversation was interrupted when she drove through a "dead zone".

But we all want to communicate!! We have the latest cell phones...Facebook...blogs... Communication is important in friendships, relationships, marriages, with peers, with colleagues, with bosses. We all want to "tell our story" and we want someone "hear" us.

The Concerned Citizens for Stryker Schools is no different. Our goal is to get the message out...communicate with the community members about what a great place we live in and about the good things happening in our schools. We hope that this communication will persuade people to vote YES on March 6th.

To communicate that message we have "blogged", "facebook-ed", sent out postcards, flyers, face painted and window painted and had Committee meetings open to the community to help spread the word. And we had "...Raisers". I am told by those involved, that the "...Raiser" held at Mama DeLuca's was a huge success! Flyers are still available for people to join the efforts and tape to their car windows or wherever people will see them. Because our efforts at Mama DeLuca's had been a previous success, we wanted to include more of the community and scheduled a "...Raiser" at PeeWee's. But somewhere along the line we hit a "dead zone"......or the string broke....or something.....PeeWee's was NOT..... Due to a break in communication somewhere (this is not a finger pointing or even a mission to find out where the break came...but to admit that there was a breakdown in communication and we are deeply grieved for that. Our businesses in Stryker are as important as our school in our community!

We appreciate ALL of the support the School has received over the years from our Business owners in town, to community members, from children who have graduated from Stryker over the years and have come back to live in our community...some to even raise their families and have their children in our school. We DO have a good thing going in Stryker. And, I truly believe we all want the best for our School and our town.

So, don't forget to support our businesses in town when you can. Please vote YES on March 6th to support our kids. Together we CAN make a difference.
